Batherson and Stutzle look really good together. I wonder, what would it cost to be able to stick Eichel between that duo?

Is there another burner that would be a good fit in between them?

it would cost one of, if not both players you want to put him between.....plus a boatload more.

Eichel is ABSOLUTELY not the player the sens should be targeting.....both because he'd cost too much to acquire, and he seems like a toxic player to inject into a locker room that seems to have so much chemistry.

for the record, i'm not saying eichel isn't a great player....he obviously is.....i just don't think he's the right fit with this particular group.

i still maintain that Monohan would be a good fit........but i'm wondering if trying to buy low on Zibby might not be the worst idea. not sure the Rangers would go for it, but you never know.

Thought the same thing about Zibanejad.

I really don't care about this year. It would be nice if they could make some noise about a miracle hail Mary run for a playoff spot. But, they are too far off the pace and I don't think anybody really cares about winning and losing at this time. A few upsets along the way are fun and good enough for now.

Teams like Calgary and Montreal are on their way down. Sens will pass them simply by sticking to the program. However, if they are ever going to get to the top they will be needing that #1 centre.

A high draft pick this year remain ht most likely way to get that number one centre, even if its a crapshoot/weak draft.

Otherwise they'd need to rely on either a trade or one of the prospects developing into one, which is unlikely.

the more i watch Stutzle play, the more i think he'll be moved to center. Maybe not this year, but i think long term he'll be a center on this team.

Tkachuk - Stu - Bath
LW - Norris - Daddy

that LW spot could be filled by Formenton or Greig, or perhaps you grab an Eklund, Guenther or Lysell in the draft. Or you trade for someone......a top six LW will cost less than a top six center

The contract that was given too Collin White should have been reserved for Drake Batherson

Nice, I was unable to watch the whole game but I believe you - makes me feel conflicted because I still feel this team needs another top pick (hopefully 1st)

White has been really good so far this year....nice bounce back season. i have no issues with his contract if he continues to play like he has so far this year. over a full season, he'd be on a 25 goal, 45pt pace......that's pretty solid

i'm super bored at work today, so looking at potential lineups for next year.

i'm assuming that stepan, anisimov, dzingel, gudbrandson, cobourn, reilly, hogberg are all gone, and i think we'll lose tierney in the expansion draft

promote from the AHL:

L. Brown, Formenton, JBD

Bring in via UFA or trade:

RNH, Saad

team looks like:

Tkachuk - Stu - Bath
Saad - RNH - Daddy
Formenton - L. Brown - Norris
Paul - White - C. Brown
Watson

Chabot - Zaitsev
Brannstrom - Zub
Wolanin - JBD
J. Brown

Murray
Daccord

I like that team

oh yea, no I agree. White has certainly bounced back and done so in a big way. I just think there was nothing wrong / I would've perferred to give white a bridge deal. I don't think he goes up by much if you give him 2 years. He could then have been resigned this summer/during next season - but again that's just my opinion.

I think with Batherson's development, he now has a right at 4.75m+ because he's a 25g and 55-58p now.

me too

hmm what would be fair deals for RNH or Saad, or your talking free agents. Sens do have cap space for sure, but wonder if Zaitsev should go to Seattle

God I would love to see this happen. Jack whines and pouts his way out of Buffalo, only to find himself in Ottawa

NMC kicks in July 2022, so gotta act quickly!

Ottawa is way too thin on the right side, and zaitsev has been really good this year (playing like a legit top 4 dman).....i can't see them not protecting him.

actually, looking at capfriendlly, he has a NTC, so they have to protect him.

It's gonna be hilarious when Matthews walks away from the leafs in 3 years, and they get nothing in return for him.

When do people think all the prospects from UND will be prepared to playi n the NHL?

Pinto I could see spending much of next year in Belleville, with getting the odd call up.

Kleven would be the most long term prospect.

my thoughts

JBD - could be in the NHL this year, think he'll be a regular next year
Pinto - will spend next year in the AHL
Sanderson and Kleven - will return to UND next year

It is good to see the discussion of the importance of a true #1 centre on these comments. I am not sure the best strategy to get that, but it should be priority #1 for Dorion and co.

The more Stutzle plays at wing, the less chance I think he will be a true #1 centre. He hasn’t played centre in any league/tournament for a couple of years now. I’m also hesitant to want the club to move such a young player to different positions so early in his NHL career.

I think seeing the success with players on the wing like Batherson, Tkachuk, Stu, and to a lesser extent, Paul and Brown is a great step. Asserting a true #1 centre somehow would elevate this team.

Now, just to have Smith swap Stu and Batherson sides on the PP so they are eligible for one-timers….

I have to double check but I think No Movement Clause you have to protect, not NTC

Who would be the goalie you protect from Seattle:

(A) Matt Murray
(B) Filip Gustavsson
(C) Marcus Hogberg

RIGHT NOW* projecting for the summer
